1st Armored Division assumes control of operations in Eastern Europe

Boleslawiec, Poland — The U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Division uncased their colors as 1st Cavalry Division formally transferred their authority for its mission in Eastern Europe during a ceremony held in Boleslawiec, Poland, March 6. The Fort Bliss, Texas, based armored division assumed control as the U.S. Army’s Task Force operating across Europe’s eastern flank from the 1st Cavalry Division.

U.S. and NATO Soldiers Display Unity on Estonian Independence Day

TALLINN, Estonia — U.S. Army soldiers from V Corps joined the Estonian Defense Forces and NATO partners to demonstrate the alliance’s strength and lethality during the 107th anniversary of Estonia's Independence Day military parade on Feb. 24, 2024.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, alongside Polish Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, visited the Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 (APS-2) site in Powidz, Poland on February 15, 2025. The visit highlighted the U.S. Army's commitment to equipping its forces with cutting-edge technology and bolstering deterrence in Eastern Europe, particularly through the V Corps' leading role in the "Transforming in Contact" (TiC) initiative. During their visit, Secretary Hegseth and Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz met with Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. The Soldiers showcased new military equipment recently tested during the Combined Resolve 25-1 exercise, emphasizing the impact of the TiC program. This initiative aims to provide Soldiers with the latest technology, allowing them to experiment and provide valuable feedback for shaping the future force.

Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael R. Weimer visits regionally aligned forces on the Eastern flank of Europe

DRAWSKO POMORSKIE, Poland — DRAWSKO POMORSKIE, Poland - Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael R. Weimer visited multiple forward operating sites in Poland from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25, 2025. Throughout his visit to the Powidz and Drawsko-Pomorskie area, Weimer engaged with senior leaders and Soldiers of regionally aligned forces under Operation Assure, Deter, and Reinforce. Brigades from both the 1st Cavalry Division, and 1st Armored Division, provided a tour of their respective sites and their training facilities.

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — GRAFENWOEHR, Germany – U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Isabella Nelson won the V Corps Army Career Counselor of the Year Competition at Grafenwoehr, Germany, Jan. 16, 2025.
