About Section 508
 

Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, provide new opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and encourage the development of technologies that help achieve these goals. The law applies to all federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use Internet Communications Technology (ICT). Under Section 508, federal agencies must ensure that employees and members of the public with disabilities have access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.
