Major General Piotr Trytek commenced his military service in 1990,
enrolling as an officer cadet at the Military University of Mechanized Infantry
in Wrocław. Upon his commission in 1994, he joined the 6th Mechanized
Regiment, later transitioning to the  2nd Mechanized Brigade, where he
served as a platoon and company commander. After graduating as a
qualified staff officer from the National Defence University in Warsaw in
2002, he held key leadership roles, including Battalion Deputy
Commander for the 2nd Mechanized Brigade and Chief of the Operational
Section for the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq in 2006.

He served as the Deputy Commander of the Polish Military Contingent in
Afghanistan from 2008 to 2009, subsequently returning to Poland to
continue his service as Chief of Staff and later Deputy Commander of the
2nd Mechanized Brigade. Following a tour at the General Staff of the Polish
Armed Forces as Chief of the Armed Forces Operational Planning and
Engagement Branch, he assumed command of the 12th
Mechanized Brigade in 2017, leading the unit through major national and
multinational exercises. In 2019, he returned to the General Staff as Deputy
Chief of the Armed Forces Development Planning and Programming
Directorate and was subsequently appointed Commander of the 11th
Lubuska Armoured Cavalry Division in October 2020.

Under his leadership, the Division successfully executed highly complex
operational and training tasks, including supporting the protection of
Poland's eastern border during regional crises and participating in major
Allied exercises like DEFENDER-Europe. In October 2023, Major General
Trytek was appointed Land Forces Inspector at the General Command of
the Polish Armed Forces, a position he held until August 2026 when he was
appointed as the Deputy Commanding General for Interoperability, US Army
V Corps. 

He is proficient in English and German, married with two children, and is an
avid scholar of military history and security studies.
