Abrams Tank Training Academy opens in Poland

A vision to strengthen this country's defense capacity launches to its next phase with the official opening of the Abrams Tank Training Academy in the Republic of Poland, Aug. 10. This collaboration between the United States and Poland follows negotiations that resulted in a purchase agreement for 250 of America's M1A2 System Enhancement Program version 3 (SEPv3) Abrams Main Battle Tanks (MBT). The M1A2 SEPv3 is the latest and most advanced model of the MBTs. Poland states the tanks will enhance their security and increase their capability to operate within the NATO Alliance.

V Corps general visits 405th AFSB APS-2 turn-in site in Grafenwoehr

The V Corps deputy commanding general for support walked the turn-in site and saw first-hand the Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 preparation for turn-in by the 405th Army Field Support Brigade and the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. Army Maj. Gen. Robert Burke also received briefings at the turn-in site and watched Soldiers and civilians prepare hundreds of APS-2 heavy armored vehicles, transport trucks and equipment sets for turn-in, Aug. 3, during his visit to Grafenwoehr Training Area.

General support and detainee operations no longer afterthoughts

From June 4 to June 11, members of the 200th Military Police Command participated in a staff exercise in Kaiserslautern, Germany in support of United States Army Europe and Africa’s Defender Europe 22 Exercise. Twenty-two Soldiers from the 200th Military Police Command participated in this staff exercise with the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, gleaning a lay of the land, determining which units would be operating in which locations and refining priorities of protection.

LEST, Slovakia-- Slovak Shield 22, part of U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s directed and V Corps led DEFENDER-Europe 22 exercise, is a multinational, operational training exercise held from May 16 to 27 at Lest Training Area in Slovakia. The exercise integrated over 1,200 participants from Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic and the U.S. under the command and control of NATO Multinational Corps Central and the Slovak Republic as the host nation.
