By V Corps Public Affairs V Corps

ANSBACH, Germany – The city of Ansbach officials and U.S. Army V Corps will host a ceremony to formally announce V Corps’ fully operationally capable status and their forward presence in the European theater during a 9:00 a.m. event Tuesday, April 5, on Barton Barracks.

The ceremony will be in front of the U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach headquarters on Barton Barracks. The officiating officer will be Maj. Gen. Robert Burke, V Corps deputy commanding general - support, and hosted by Ansbach mayor, Lord Mayor Thomas Deffner.

The presence of V Corps main headquarters provides the needed level of command and control focused on synchronizing U.S. Army, allied and partner nation tactical formations operating in Europe. It will enhance U.S. Army Europe and Africa, U.S. European Command and NATO Force Structure to promote regional stability and security.

“Victory Corps is ready and prepared to support the orders of the President and demonstrate our commitment to our NATO allies. As America’s forward deployed corps, we were built for this mission,” said Lt. Gen. John S. Kolasheski, V Corps commander. “Throughout our unit’s history, we have stood as guardians of peace in Europe and we once again proudly answer the nation’s call.”

As America's forward deployed corps in Europe, V Corps works alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat ready forces, executes joint and multinational training exercises, retains command and control for all rotational and assigned units in the European Theater, and builds local community relationships.

Due to COVID-19 risk reduction measures, all attendees will be required to follow current U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach regulations. The ceremony can be viewed live on the V Corps Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VCorps or Twitter at https://twitter.com/VCorps and will be broadcasted on AFN Europe.

Lord Mayor Thomas Deffner and Maj. Gen. Robert Burke will be available for 10 – 15 minutes to speak to media, in person, immediately following the ceremony.

Media interested in attending must contact the USAG Ansbach Public Affairs Office at 0981-183-1600 or email Gerlinde.m.hoyle.ln@army.mil to make arrangements and arrive at the Barton Barracks Main Gate no later than 8:30 a.m.
