Command Sergeant Major

Command Sgt. Maj. Raymond S. Harris

Command Sgt. Maj. Raymond S. Harris enlisted into the Army on March 20, 1996, as an Infantryman.  He attended One-Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He has served as a rifleman, machine gunner, automatic rifleman, Bradley gunner, team leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, first sergeant, and command sergeant major.

His duty assignments include 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment (M), Fort Riley, Kansas; 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment (M), Vilseck, Germany; 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment (M), Fort Hood, Texas; 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment, Fort  Benning, Georgia (OSUT); 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment (L), Fort Hood, Texas; 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment (TOG), Fort Myer, Virginia; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (L), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 64, Fort Bliss, Texas; Headquarters 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Headquarters 165th Infantry BDE, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Headquarters 3rd Security Forces Assistance Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; 1st Infantry Division Command Sergeant Major, Fort Riley, Kansas; and currently serving as V Corps Command Sergeant Major. He has deployed in support of the Kosovo Campaign, Operations Enduring Freedom Cuba and Afghanistan, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

CSM Harris is a graduate of all levels of the NCO Education System, U. S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 64, Combat Advisor Trainer Course, Airborne, Pathfinder, Drill Sergeant, Combative Level I and II, Master Resiliency, Advanced Rifle Marksmanship Course, and NBC Defense Course.  His civilian education includes an associate degree in business, bachelor’s degree in homeland security, and a master’s degree in leadership studies.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Bronze Star Medal with one OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with three OLC, Army Commendation Medal with eight OLC, Army Achievement Medal with eight OLC, Valorous Unit Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal 7th Knot, Kosovo Campaign Medal with one Service Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal-one Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism-Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism-Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 4, Overseas Ribbon with Numeral 3, NATO Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He has earned the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge-Gold, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

CSM Harris has a wife and two children.
