Maj. Gen. David Womack assumed duties as V Corps’ Deputy Commanding General of Maneuver stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany with duty in Poznan, Poland, July, 2022.
Prior to his arrival to V Corps, Womack served as the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Multinational Corps Northeast, NATO.
A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Maj. Gen. Womack graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1992 and commissioned into the Army as an infantry officer.
Maj. Gen. Womack’s previous command and staff assignments include: Bradley platoon leader, support platoon leader and battalion logistics officer, 1st Armored Division; brigade plans officer, rifle company commander, and aide-de-camp to the commanding general 101st
Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; company commander, 3rd
Infantry Regiment; battalion operations officer and executive officer, 1st
IR “Currahee”; brigade operations officer, 506th
IR; commander, 1st
IR; and commander, 2nd
Brigade Combat Team, 25th
Infantry Division, Hawaii.
Womack has also served as an instructor, Department of Military Instruction, United States Military Academy; infantry branch manager, U.S. Army Human Resources Command; the Military Assistant to the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.; the combined joint deputy operations officer for Resolute Support in Kabul, Afghanistan; and assistant deputy director for regional operations, Joint Staff. After his time with Joint Staff, Womack assumed responsibility as the Chief of Staff for the 25th ID. In 2019, MG Womack served as the Deputy Commanding General (Support) to the 25th ID, before coming to work as the Special Assistant to the Commanding General, United States Army Europe.
Maj. Gen. Womack’s operational deployments include Macedonia; Kosovo; Operation Iraqi Freedom III, Ramadi, Iraq; Operation Enduring Freedom, Paktika, Afghanistan; and Resolute Support, Kabul, Afghanistan.
In addition to his bachelor’s degree in history from Virginia Military Institute, Maj. Gen. Womack has a master's degree in national security strategy from the National War College. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Service and Staff School, and the Air Force's Command and General Staff College. Additionally, he has completed the Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger, and Jungle Warfare training courses.
Maj. Gen. Womack's decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge and the Expert Infantry Badge.
Maj. Gen. Womack has a wife, Noori, and three daughters.
